Norfolk Rectories

In the 1960’s/1970’s national programme of ‘New rectories for old’ were two rectories built at Hingham & Scarning in Norfolk. Hingham was a designated ‘Rectory of the Year’ at that time. In both cases I pursued the theme of ‘local particularity’.

In their architectural themes both are Rural East Anglian in reference. More specifically rural Norfolk: replacing the traditional philosophy of the aristocracy’s ‘third son’ with democratic modesty?
